Upon Completion
By enrolling in the graphic design course you understand that the your final qualification will be issued through a process of Recognition of Prior Learning. We are currently in the process of seeking registration as an RTO (Registered Training Organisation) with the NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board. This is a complex application process that we hope this will conclude successfully in the coming months. Upon achieving this registration, The Graphic Design School will be able to issue students with the nationally recognised qualification the Certificate IV in Design. To be eligible for this qualification students will need to successfully complete all course assessment activities. This nationally endorsed qualification and will compliment the current high level of industry recognition given to designers who have completed The Graphic Design Course.
What are the advantages of having access to nationally recognised training?
The Certificate IV in Design Course will be composed of units of competency, which are recognized by employers and can be used towards credit for other qualifications. The units of competency that we have chosen to align with our course are what we believe (and industry has told us) is most relevant to workplace skills for the graphic design industry. Being able to import credits across when taking on further study in this field is paramount. Graphic Design has today so many specialisation areas, and students should be able to evolve and learn new skills without having to learn the basics again.
What if I am already enroled?
For those who are already enroled, you will be offered the opportunity to apply for recognition of your prior learning and your current competence. This will involve gathering and submitting a portfolio of evidence that will be reviewed by one of our assessors under a recognition of prior learning process. If you choose to take this opportunity, the recognition assessment will occur at the completion of The Graphic Design Course and much of the graphic design portfolio developed during the course will act as assessment evidence toward recognition. It is important to note that the graphic design course has not substantially changed during the development of the Certificate IV in Design Course. The learning and assessment being undertaken now is substantially the same with a number of important improvements.
It is important to note that this arrangement is not yet in place and The Graphic Design School is not yet in a position to offer nationally recognised qualifications. We have offered this information in order to properly inform you of our status and to make this process as clear and transparent as possible. If you have any questions that may arise, please feel free to contact us.
